In 2017, the Open Budget Survey gave relatively high scores to the Philippines. The global budget transparency and accountability report notes that the government provides substantial information about its purse and its auditing institutions such as Congress exercise adequate oversight. The country's score of 67 out of 100 is higher than the global average of 42 and the second highest among Asian countries included in the survey.

This relatively positive report can be seen with the government's aggressive spending in the past few years primarily in its human capital development programs and social services most notably the Build, Build, Build program. As we enter 2019, join us for a luncheon meeting with Department of Budget and Management Secretary Benjamin E. Diokno as he presents an overview of the government's budget for the year ahead, on reforms to address current challenges, and lay out the plans and priorities of the agency to further improve the country's fiscal management and translate into socioeconomic gains.
