According to the 2018 year-end report of the Philippine Competition Commission, the Commission has commenced its competition research on the following sectors: manufacturing, rice, pharmaceuticals, air and land transport, logistics, e-commerce, retail/supermarkets, telecommunications, agricultural credit, among others. These studies will help identify competition concerns, if any, and provide the Commission an objective assessment of these nine priority sectors.
This will also be an excellent avenue to learn about the major developments in the Philippine competition landscape, with special emphasis on the following:
foreign investment restrictions in the country to level the playing field;
PhCC's priority sectors in 2019 and next steps; and
other plans and priorities of the competition watchdog.
