Join us for an online discussion on digital readiness and resilience against COVID-19 on 20 May, 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM. We have invited Ms. Mary Grace Mirandilla-Santos of Better Broadband Alliance who will share an overview of the country's digital infrastructure landscape towards the new normal. We are also joined by Dr. William Emmanuel Yu of The Asia Foundation – Philippines who will discuss the state of digital readiness and cybersecurity in the Philippines.


Organizations are relying on the Internet and other digital technologies more than ever to do their business. This webinar is a great platform to understand better the digital Philippines, and how protecting our digital presence is just as important as protecting ourselves from COVID-19.

    Mary Grace Mirandilla-Santos

    Lead Convener at Better Broadband Alliance

    Mary Grace Mirandilla-Santos is an independent researcher on telecommunications and information and communications technology (ICT) policy, with a special focus on the Internet’s impact on development and society. Since 2005, she’s been analyzing broadband policy and regulation, competition, and solutions to universal ICT access. Currently, she works as:

    • lead policy researcher of the Broadband Infrastructure Project under the Coalitions for Change program of The Asia Foundation;
    • digital technology research consultant at the Asian Development Bank

    Grace is a research fellow of LirneAsia, a regional ICT policy think tank, vice president for policy of the Internet Society (ISOC) Philippines Chapter, and lead convener of the Better Broadband Alliance, a coalition of citizens and stakeholders committed to supporting policy initiatives that bring better broadband services to the Philippines. Recently, she began research in cybersecurity under the Secure Connections project of The Asia Foundation.

    Cybersecurity Expert (Consultant) at The Asia Foundation - Philippines

    William is considered a "CTO ng Bayan". He runs technology for MDI Novare working on various projects involving digital transformation, elastic infrastructure, and end to end AGILE DevOps. In his career, he has supported various customers such Airtel, BPI, Delta, Globe, Safeway, Shell, Smart, Thomson and Verizon, to name a few. He is an active advocate of shaping Internet and Technology policy working with organizations such as the Internet Society, The Asia Foundation, PH-CERT, PPCRV and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT). He is a teacher, at heart, and continues to lecture at the Ateneo de Manila University.
