Event Details

The birth of globalization paved the way for the exchange of products, services, ideas, and culture worldwide. Furthermore, with globalization, advanced technologies are within the reach of all nations all over the world, making every transaction, socializing, and entertainment a few clicks away. Continuous innovation in these aspects is a double-edged sword as it makes life easier, but also a threat to one's cyber-security as scammers have used technology to swindle individuals. These scammers mostly steal one's identity by logging on to their social media accounts, using their credit cards, and attaining an individual's sensitive information.

According to a survey conducted by Statista in 2022 among 1,078 Filipinos, phishing attempts were targeted at 42% of respondents in the Philippines' first quarter of 2022 who had encountered attempts at digital fraud. Additionally, fraud schemes involving money or gift cards were targeted at 38% of the respondents. This webinar seeks to spread awareness of cybersecurity and to educate participants on how to prevent being scammed through understanding how one can detect scammers.

It is in this light that the Chamber is organizing the webinar, How to Detect Scams: Addressing Rising Cybersecurity Issues, scheduled on 08 February 2022 from 01:30-03:00 PM. This event is gathering experts who aim to discuss the evolution and propagation of crime towards the cyber domain, to discuss the development of cybersecurity brought about by cybercrime; and to help people reduce their chances of getting victimized by cyber-related crimes and scams.
