Today, the agriculture sector is in a delicate predicament as it faces extreme pressure from the adverse impacts of the ongoing pandemic, climate change, and other global economic challenges including the military conflict in Ukraine which has led to a significant increase in global food prices. The Philippines, while not traditionally facing food shortages, is a major food importer that is vulnerable to the economic downturns and supply chain disruptions. If left unchecked, access to adequate, affordable, and nutritious food may become harder. Government officials from the outgoing and incoming administrations have put emphasis on the need to boost local food production to help mitigate the impact of inflation to food prices.

Under the theme "Reengineering the Philippine Agriculture towards Innovation and Food Security", the second and last installment of the 2022 Sustainable Agriculture Forum aims to set the agriculture scene for the second half of the year by inviting resource speakers from the government to detail out the plans and priorities of the new administration for the agriculture sector. Private sector representatives will likewise share their insights on innovative approaches in addressing the challenges faced by the sector. The webinar will also feature discussions on the amendment of the Agri-Agra Law, updates on the commodity roadmaps and the fishery sector as well as provide insights on the trade and investment opportunities in the agriculture sector, among others.

Join us on 25 August, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM with key stakeholders as we unpack the current challenges and opportunities of the agriculture sector, as well as the plans and programs of the new administration for one of the key priority sectors of the country.
