Event Details
Mindanao, based on several studies and geographic projections, is the key to the future of renewable energy in the Philippines. Rich in natural resources and containing a wide range of different terrain, Mindanao has massive potential for hydroelectric, geothermal, wind, solar, and biopower. This proves essential for the Philippines, as it still lags behind in its goal of 100% electrification. Renewable energy sources still make up a minority of Philippine energy generation, as fossil fuels (coal, oil & gas) collectively make up approximately 67.8%. There is also considerable market demand as Mindanaoan families have the lowest access to modern energy services out of families from the three major island groups.
To respond to this, the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines, under its REPH100 Initiative, has partnered with Nestle Philippines for a hybrid forum on renewable energy access in Mindanao. The event aims to improve renewable energy access and service delivery in Mindanao through a dialogue among suppliers, consumers, regulators, policymakers, and other key stakeholders. This will enable energy stakeholders and foreign energy investors to embrace and catalyze the potential of greater renewable energy access in Mindanao.
Also joining this dialogue are key private sector players in Mindanao, to provide various perspectives on energy transition and sustainability. This event which will be held on 08 September 2022 and we encourage everyone to join us physically in Acacia Hotel Davao, but for those who cannot, you may also attend virtually via Zoom.
