Economies far and wide are being reshaped by rapid technological change. With the emergence of COVID-19, societies have been adapting to work-at-home environments, online events and newfound online platforms for work and recreation. Social, mobile, analytic and cloud technologies are transforming people's lives and are providing opportunities for businesses to generate value in different ways.
Emerging technologies, according to UNCTAD, have shown to be crucial in combating COVID-19. For instance, biotechnology has been utilized to detect the virus and test for infection. People have also been able to connect when physically isolated thanks to broadband technology and social media, supporting business continuity, children's education, and better mental health. More importantly, technologies and innovations have been instrumental on how business thrived and survived at the onset of the pandemic towards where we are today.
The European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP) and Fairs and More, Inc. (FMI) will co-organize the forum Tech for Progress: 2022 Outlook and Trends that will bring together global thought leaders as well champions to highlight the prospects and opportunities for technology and innovation in the Philippines and globally. This virtual forum will also identify breakthrough areas for economic development and progress, through innovation and technology, continuously transforming the landscape of businesses and industries in 2022 and beyond.
