Tuberculosis (TB) has killed more people over the last decade than any other infectious disease. The Philippines has the fourth highest number of cases of TB of any country in the world and the third highest rate of the disease per capita. In 2019, 600,000 people fell ill with TB and over 28,000 died from it. Efforts to tackle TB are hampered by the high proportion of people who are affected by the disease but are never officially diagnosed or treated. The World Health Organization estimates that over 3 million people a year are not officially diagnosed or treated. These people are predominantly men of working age.

To increase diagnoses among men of working age and to raise awareness of the often hidden impact that TB can have on a company's productivity and output, Ending Workplace TB (EWTB) was established to support companies to implement high-quality TB care and prevention programs for their workers. EWTB has built a network of multinational companies which collaborate, sharing expertise and best practice, to help build stronger, healthier workplaces, free from TB.
