Event Details

The capabilities of artificial intelligence (AI) have developed extensively since its inception. Several technological breakthroughs under the Fourth Industrial Revolution are pushing the digital transformation at an unprecedented pace. The vast opportunities for the adoption of these new technologies are expected to revolutionise industries, boost performance, and improve accuracy if regulated and utilised effectively. As we begin to grasp the future of AI, it is necessary to put in place policies that will protect the economy and the people, as well as improve ICT infrastructure to reap its immense potential.

With the commitment of the Philippine government to fully embracing digitalisation to provide better services to its people, we have seen accelerated efforts identify challenges and opportunities on AI deployment in various sectors to better adopt the responsible and ethical use of AI. Relatedly, the Department of Information and Communications and Technology, in collaboration with the Civil Service Commission (CSC), conducted a Stakeholder Consultation on the draft Joint Memorandum Circular on the Principles and Guidelines for an Ethical and Trustworthy Use of AI in the Government. Likewise, the Department of Trade and Industry formulated the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy Roadmap to serve as a guide to the government and stakeholders on the use of AI and how it should uplift the Filipino people, improve the productivity of local industries, and enhance the competitiveness of the national economy.

Against this backdrop, the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP) and its ICT-BPM-KPM Committee are organising this event to give an overview of the current status of the country's AI landscape, as well as delve into its potential and impacts on business and society. Likewise, the session will serve as a platform to discuss areas of collaboration between the government and key stakeholders to ensure inclusive and sustainable development in the country amid these technological innovations.
