Event Details

One of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals established by the United Nations General Assembly is about clean water and sanitation for all. Demand for water is rising owing to rapid population growth, urbanization, and increasing water needs from the agriculture, industry, and energy sectors. In addition, countries are facing growing challenges linked to degraded water-related ecosystems, water scarcity caused by climate change, and underinvestment in water and sanitation.

To ensure achieving clean water and sanitation, it is important to focus on the sustainable management of water resources, wastewater, and ecosystems, and acknowledge the importance of an enabling environment. The government has several actions taken to achieve this goal by 2030.

This event, "Water is Too Big: A Dialogue on the State of the Water Sector in Visayas", will provide an avenue for discussions of collaborative efforts shared by stakeholders in addressing the water challenges in Visayas and help achieve the goal of ensuring clean water and sanitation for all. This is also a venue to create beneficial partnerships through shared experiences and initiatives.

Speakers that are considered to be at the forefront of water information, innovation, and technology will be able to share their insights at this event. Methods for locating and implementing technological advances that satisfactorily meet the needs of water security, particularly in the wake of natural disasters, will be the subject of this symposium.
